Hello all! I got accepted to attend Alfred University this coming fall as a Fine Arts freshman. Therefore I thought I'd stop in and say hello.

I have a question on what computer I should get. I'm an art major, and I don't really feel like I need a laptop, and I could just do with a desktop. So what should I get, a laptop? A desktop? A Mac or a PC?

Thanks!

i got accepted to alfred yesterday. if i can get enough scholarships and grants to go there, i'll be entering as a ceramics bfa seeking freshman (although i'm a freshman this year..)

i was wondering if you guys could give me any kind of feedback on the general environment of the school and the town. is there anything to do there? what are the politics like in the town? are people generally accepting and nonjudgmental? are there any hippies? :)

Hey kids, I'm (hopefully) coming to Alfred next fall and I have a question:

I failed math this past quarter and got a D in my English course because of some personal issues I've been having.

What's the chance that my acceptance will be resinded?

Hello, we are two students at Rochester Institute of Technology currently engaged in an independent study project addressing the issue of hazing. The goal of this project is two-pronged - we wish to discover the prevalence of hazing in the state as well as get your opinion on what should be done about it, if anything.

Under the lj-cut is our survey, which asks a variety of questions about your personal experiences with hazing, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a minute or two from your time to fill it out really quickly. We even have questions at the beginning for those who have never experienced hazing but wish to share their opinion on the subject. Additionally, each question gives you the option to answer in more detail beyond the choices we have already provided. We encourage you to take advantage of this if you have more include in your answer.

Your responses to this survey are anonymous, so please do not put your name (or any information that would identify you) anywhere on this survey. You may quit the survey at any time and for any reason, or you may decline to answer any of the questions, but your responses to every question are important and we ask that you answer as many of the questions as you possibly can. You may post your answers however you like - under your user name, anonymously, or you may e-mail them to us at hazing.survey@gmail.com. All posts will be screened, so no one except you, us, and the community administrator will be able to see your responses.

Please inform us of any questions, concerns, or feedback you might have. Thank you in advance for your time.

Hi, I was accepted with a $19,000 scholarship, and I'll be attending the Purple and Gold day on March 25th.

Who wants to tell me how much you either love or hate Alfred University, and why?

It was my top choice, but I have yet to visit the campus. I've heard both good and bad...more good than bad. But I would like some more first-hand opinions.

Thanks!

Students....with money??!?!?! HA!

But...some of us in here are Alums...so I'm posting anwyway.

The Dr. Gail Walker fund is being collected and added to. Me? I'm contributing 1/2 my Salary Bonus each year to the Gail Walker fund.

I met with Gail's partner after her memorial service last month. She is organizing for these funds to be used for Students and their text books!

(as a former employee of the Alfred University Bookstore...Sheesh...it's much needed!)

So contribute. Tell people to contribute. And maybe benefit from the contribution in future Semesters!

ok...all you starving artists...back to your workstudy jobs :D

x posted to me and to Alfred_U

Donation information: from the AU notice on the AU webpage...

"In response to several inquiries about how to make a contribution in memory of Dr. Gail Walker, the University has established a memorial fund in her name. Those wishing to contribute to the fund should make their checks payable to Alfred University, and send them to Alfred University, University Relations, 1 Saxon Drive, Alfred, NY 14802. In the memo line on the check, please make sure you indicate that the money is to be used for Dr. Walker’s memorial."
